Mike Duffer at Hauger Learning Services
Michael Duffer has taught Language Arts for the past 14+ years, beginning his career in the New York City Public School system before relocating to Portland, where he spent ten years teaching at Mt. Scott Learning Center. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s in English Education from Hunter College in New York.
Throughout his career, Mike has specialized in supporting students with their writing and helping them build confidence as communicators and critical thinkers. Known for his gentle, encouraging demeanor, he emphasizes relationship-based learning and strives to create a supportive environment where students feel seen, capable, and inspired to grow.
After more than a decade in the classroom, Mike transitioned to one-on-one academic and executive function support. As co-owner of Hauger Learning Services, he continues to help students strengthen their writing, organization, and executive function skills through individualized, student-centered support.
Outside of his work with students, Mike enjoys music, cycling, and reading literature and philosophy.
